About

Making Heaven More Crowded

Our Story

Several years ago, the Lead Pastor of Red Rocks Church, Shawn Johnson, began taking yearly trips to encourage pastors and church planters in Europe. After passionately exhorting leaders that they should simply try and see what God can accomplish, he felt that God might be asking him to do the exact same thing.

After traveling to various cities throughout Europe, the team landed on Brussels, Belgium. Here was a city where the nations gathered; this convergence of Belgian nationals, military families, international students, and expats seemed like the ideal place for an English-speaking church to find a home. In 2016, Red Rocks Denver sent 4 staff members to Belgium to plant a church at St. John’s International School, where the church finally launched on October 2, 2016.

The Brussels Team

Meet the Red Rocks Brussels Team! A group who are passionate about Jesus, people, and the church and believe God is up to something in Europe! What started as a crazy dream many years ago in Denver has turned into an international family. As a team, they are proud to be living proof that if God can use them, He can use anyone. Combining their love for culture, travel, and faith the team works together to make Heaven More Crowded by serving and celebrating the city of Brussels.

Ryan Myers

Pastor

Ryan was born and raised in Indiana (USA) where he met his wife, Amie, in high school. Initially wanting to be a Christian hip-hop artist, he settled for the next best thing – a career in accounting. Ryan and Amie moved their family to Belgium in 2014 which is where they experienced Red Rocks Church for the first time when the campus was opened in October 2016. It was during that time when Ryan felt the call into ministry and moved his family to Denver, Colorado where they began their pursuit while continuing to serve in the Denver based Red Rocks Church Littleton, Park Meadows and Lakewood campuses.
Ryan returned to Belgium in late 2023 and joined the Brussels campus in January 2025 as our pastor. Ryan and Amie have three daughters, Rylee, Gwendolyn and Chloe. On any given weekend, you will see his entire family serving their local church as they believe God has an amazing plan for the country of Belgium while using a combination of locals and the vast group of internationals which will help achieve the primary mission of the church – Make Heaven More Crowded.

Red Rocks Kids

Born in Belgium and raised in a Christian family, Vanille always knew that God had called her to work with the youngest among us. She pursued her calling by becoming a preschool teacher and gained valuable experience in an international school, leveraging her fluency in English, French, and Flemish.

In 2018, Vanille began attending Red Rocks Church in Brussels and quickly became a dedicated volunteer within the kids ministry. Now supporting the kids ministry, her radiant vision is to share the Good News with as many children as possible, both within and beyond the church walls.

Outside of her ministry, Vanille enjoys indulging in ice cream and exploring new destinations through travel. However, her greatest joy comes from spending cherished moments with her daughter, Céleste, and her beloved husband, Jonathan.

JACK DAVIES

Maxwell Winston

Worship & Production

Born in Belgium to American parents involved in church planting and youth ministry, he spent much of his childhood moving between continents. After relocating to Oxford to study audio production and pursue a career as a sound engineer, he met his wife, and they married in Belgium before embarking on a journey that took them across the world—living in France, Sri Lanka, Canada, and back to France—before finally settling in Belgium with their two daughters, now 4 and 2.

For years, he worked in tech sales, finding it difficult to balance a career in sound engineering with family life. Now, in his role at Red Rocks Church, he has the opportunity to invest in his family, church, and passion for audio. Being part of this team and contributing to something meaningful is a true blessing, and he couldn’t be happier with where he is today.
