In this part of the Practices section you will find resources and ways to engage in the specific practice of Praying. To pray is to make space to be with God. Prayer is primarily about cultivating a deeper relationship with God. It is both speaking and listening, asking and waiting, surrendering and receiving.
Practices
Daily
- Recite Psalm 23 in the morning, asking God to be your Shepherd and sustain you throughout the day.
- Choose a short prayer you can say under your breath throughout the day, like “Thank you Jesus” “Jesus, show me your presence” or “Help me to love those around me”.
Weekly
- Once a week spend 10 minutes slowly praying through the Lord’s Prayer. Don’t just read it; stop after each line and think deeply about what you are really asking God for.
Monthly
- Make a list of everything you would want to ask God about. Anything you are curious about, questions about life, dreams you’ve had. Then pray about these things throughout the following weeks and months. Pay attention and write down if God places answers in your life.
